Meet Carrie.

Carrie Thomas is a dedicated education leader committed to improving school quality, instructional excellence, and student success. With over 15 years of experience in curriculum development, teacher coaching, and school leadership, she has helped transform schools by equipping educators with the tools they need to drive meaningful student achievement.

 

As Partner, School Quality at BetterEd Solutions, Carrie works alongside school leaders to enhance instructional practices, strengthen curriculum design, and implement data-driven strategies that improve student outcomes. She provides hands-on coaching and professional development to ensure schools meet high academic standards while fostering inclusive and engaging learning environments.

 

Prior to her work at BetterEd, Carrie served as a Humanities Department Instructional Coach at Harlem Children’s Zone, where she designs curriculum, develops assessments, and supports K-12 educators. Her expertise in phonics instruction, differentiated learning, and special education underscores her commitment to meeting the diverse needs of all students.

 

Throughout her career, Carrie has held leadership positions including Dean at KIPP NYC, Assistant Head of School at Hebrew Public, and Assistant Principal at Success Academies. She has led school-wide initiatives that resulted in major student achievement gains, such as increasing state exam proficiency rates to 84% in ELA and 98% in Math at Success Academies and ensuring 85% of kindergarten scholars at Achievement First reached grade-level reading proficiency in a remote setting.

 

Carrie holds a Master’s in Elementary Education from Brooklyn College, an Editorial Certification from New York University, and a BA in Integrative Arts from Pennsylvania State University. She is also certified in Students with Disabilities (1-6) through RELAY GSE, reinforcing her expertise in supporting diverse learners.

 

Beyond her work in education, Carrie has a background in publishing, having worked as an editor at McGraw-Hill and Informa Publishing. A certified Toastmaster and professional photographer, she is also passionate about student enrichment, having served as an assistant director for middle school theater programs and a literacy mentor.

 

Carrie believes that every child deserves access to an excellent education, regardless of background or zip code. She is driven by the belief that strong schools build strong communities, and she remains committed to developing the next generation of educators and school leaders who will carry this mission forward.
