Jhay Tamayo

Business Operations Manager

Business Operations · Executive Operations · Client, CRM & Revenue Systems

Jhay Tamayo is the Business Operations Manager at BetterEd Solutions, where she helps translate organizational priorities into coordinated execution across operations, client support, research, partnerships, sales infrastructure, data management, and executive administration. With a background spanning customer service, business development, lead generation, client relations, research, talent support, and cross-functional operations, Tamayo brings a highly practical understanding of how growing organizations build the systems, routines, information flows, and follow-through required to operate effectively.

Tamayo’s role is centered on the operational backbone of BetterEd. As the firm expands its work across school improvement, transformation, leadership development, research, technology, partnerships, and organizational growth, she helps ensure that internal systems keep pace with the complexity of the work. Her responsibilities sit at the intersection of people, process, data, clients, and execution: maintaining visibility across priorities, supporting client and partner workflows, strengthening CRM and pipeline discipline, organizing information, coordinating follow-up, and helping the organization move work from decision to completion.

Her professional background reflects the breadth required for that role. Tamayo earned a Bachelor of Science in Development Communication from Mariano Marcos State University in the Philippines. Her early career included customer service, sales development, live-chat support, lead generation, appointment setting, billing support, dispute resolution, and client communication across organizations including Alorica, Concentrix, TaskUs, UniShippers, and B2B campaigns serving customers in the United States and United Kingdom. Those roles developed her ability to manage high-volume workflows, communicate with customers under pressure, solve problems quickly, maintain accurate records, and move prospective clients through structured processes.

Tamayo developed particularly strong expertise in prospect research and pipeline development through her work in lead generation. At UniShippers, she researched potential business customers, identified relevant decision-makers and contact information, conducted outbound outreach, and scheduled qualified appointments for sales teams. Her professional record notes that she was capable of completing more than 200 outbound calls and producing approximately 10 to 20 solid leads in a day. This experience gave her an early foundation in the connection between research quality, data accuracy, disciplined outreach, CRM management, and revenue generation.

Her responsibilities expanded significantly after joining Reading Achievement Partners in 2022. Over time, Tamayo served across a wide range of functions, including Lead Generation Specialist, Executive Assistant, Social Media Designer, Operations and Talent Acquisition Associate, Manager of Research Outreach and Partnerships, Operations Associate, and Manager of Client Relations. That progression is significant because it demonstrates her ability to move beyond a single functional specialty and support the interconnected systems of a growing education organization.

In research and business development, Tamayo built and organized a substantial prospect database, producing more than 8,000 contacts for potential school and organizational partners and uploading those records into HubSpot. Her work required identifying schools and decision-makers, maintaining accurate contact information, organizing prospect data, and helping create the infrastructure necessary for systematic outreach rather than relying on informal relationship tracking. That experience now informs her work supporting BetterEd’s CRM discipline, pipeline visibility, market research, and partnership operations.

Tamayo also developed extensive experience creating and managing organizational trackers. Her work has included organizing student, school, company, client, and prospect information; designing systems to structure data; maintaining deliverables and task visibility; and ensuring that information can be retrieved and acted on by leaders. This is an important element of her operational value: she understands that organizations often do not suffer from a lack of information, but from information being scattered across inboxes, documents, spreadsheets, conversations, and individual memory. Her work helps convert that fragmentation into usable systems.

Her executive-support background further strengthens her fit for business operations. Tamayo has managed calendars, scheduled meetings, coordinated interviews, supported executive correspondence, organized follow-up, and helped leadership maintain visibility across competing priorities. She has also worked in talent acquisition and onboarding-related responsibilities, giving her experience with candidate coordination and the administrative processes required to bring new people into an organization effectively.

Client relations have been another central component of her work. Tamayo has served as a key point of contact supporting relationships with schools, districts, clients, and education stakeholders, helping understand client needs, coordinate internal responses, maintain communication, and support ongoing satisfaction and implementation. Her experience overseeing client-relations activity also developed her ability to balance responsiveness with internal accountability, ensuring that commitments made externally are visible and actionable inside the organization.

Within BetterEd’s broader business infrastructure, Tamayo has also supported sales development and sales leadership. Company records reflect responsibilities involving prospecting, qualification, pipeline management, customer acquisition, discovery and demonstration support, follow-up, CRM accuracy, sales-team coaching, and the coordination of opportunity handoffs. This work complements her operations role because sustainable growth requires more than generating leads; it requires reliable systems for capturing opportunities, documenting next steps, assigning ownership, tracking progress, and ensuring that promising relationships do not disappear through weak follow-through.

Tamayo’s experience also includes communications and basic brand support. Earlier in her education-sector work, she created more than 300 approved social-media designs and supported social-media management. While communications is not the central focus of her BetterEd role, this experience gives her additional fluency in how operational execution, client-facing communication, and organizational presentation intersect.

At BetterEd Solutions, Tamayo is positioned as the manager responsible for helping the business run with greater consistency as the company scales. She supports systems for project and deliverables management, CRM and relationship management, research operations, executive coordination, client workflow, sales operations, administrative infrastructure, information organization, and cross-functional follow-through. She helps create the connective tissue between BetterEd’s specialists so that work led by school-transformation experts, researchers, coaches, partnership leaders, data specialists, and other team members can move through a coherent operating system.

This role is particularly important in a professional-services organization. BetterEd’s value to schools depends not only on the quality of its intellectual and instructional expertise, but on whether proposals are submitted on time, clients receive timely communication, meetings result in clear next steps, deliverables are tracked, data remain current, contracts and onboarding processes move forward, internal owners know their responsibilities, and leadership can quickly understand what requires attention. Tamayo’s work strengthens those execution disciplines.

Her approach is grounded in organization, responsiveness, persistence, and operational visibility. She is comfortable working across multiple functions and moving between detailed administrative work and higher-level coordination. Whether the task involves researching a new opportunity, cleaning a CRM pipeline, preparing information for leadership, coordinating a partner follow-up, managing a tracker, supporting a client workflow, or ensuring that a deadline does not slip, Tamayo’s focus is on keeping the organization moving.

That makes Business Operations Manager a natural evolution of her professional experience. The role captures the breadth of work she has already performed across operations, executive support, client relations, research, sales, partnerships, data, and organizational systems while giving BetterEd a clear internal owner for the disciplined execution required as the firm grows.

At BetterEd Solutions, Tamayo contributes to the organization’s vision of transforming schools in our nation’s most underserved communities into happier, healthier, higher-performing places where every child can thrive. Her contribution is primarily organizational: building and maintaining the business systems that allow BetterEd’s school-improvement work to be delivered with greater consistency, responsiveness, accountability, and scale.
